Why Kenya is poised to become the ‘Singapore of Africa’ Of all the countries in sub Saharan Africa to be optimistic about, the most promising is #kenya. Economic and political forces are converging to put the continent’s seventh-largest nation in a relatively favourable position.

Africa is the fastest-growing #continent and is expected to account for one-quarter of the world’s population by 2050. That means more multinational corporations see a need to have a direct presence somewhere in #subsaharanafrica. Many such companies already realise they need a presence in #asia, with #singapore proving increasingly popular as the hub, especially as #hongkong has been absorbed into communist #china.

Where in #africa might such a comparable cluster of companies evolve? UNFORTUNATELY, some of Africa’s leading nations have experienced major troubles lately. Economic growth has slowed in #nigeria, Africa’s most populous nation, and the country has only begun to make much-needed reforms; #ethiopia, the second-most populous country, just went through a #civilwar; political problems and power shortages continue to plague #southafrica. For the time being, those places are not in the running to be a dominant sub-Saharan economic hub, if only because expats will be reluctant to move there.

In contrast, a locale with a reasonable level of English fluency and an attractive year-round climate will get a lot of attention — and that nicely describes Kenya. Kenya also had a growth rate of about 5.5% last year, despite negative shocks to the prices of imported #food and #energy. Since 2004, growth rates have been in the range of 4% to 5%.

Kenya also has some geographic advantages. It has an extensive coastline on the #indianocean, and research suggests that landlocked countries have worse economic performance. Countries with a coast also find it easier to stay in touch with the rest of the #world, and Kenya has relatively easy access to China and #india, large markets and sources of capital. In the current #geopolitical climate, #eastafrica is attracting more interest from more sources than is most of West Africa.

In terms of scale, Kenya’s population of about 57 million cannot compete with Nigeria’s 222 million. But East Africa, with almost 500 million people, has a larger #population than #westafrica. Continue reading.. https://lnkd.in/ej7dTfVA

Did you know “The Gods Must be Crazy Movie”
The main actor of "The Gods Must Be Crazy", N!xau Toma, was only paid $300, even though the film produced in 1980 made over $200 million. He died a poor wretched bushman despite making millions of dollars for other people. He was hugely exploited at the negoting table. In fact, he was merely told what was negotiated and he accepted with happiness. Africans have always been exploited.
The film is basically about the conflict between the new order and the old epoch: The Namibian tribal people in a remote African desert live a happy life, but it is all torn to pieces when a Coca-Cola bottle falls from a plane. The confusion and myth surrounding the strange object disorganized the bushmen as they made efforts to unravel the mystery object.
He died on 5th July 2003 at the age of 59. He died a poor man because he was not only exploited but he lacked the necessary skills to even realised that he was exploited.
Yes he died poor after playing the lead role in a film that earned more than $200 million in revenue. Where else does it happen if not in Africa?

Bodi tribe fattening camp
In the Bodi Tribe (Ethiopia), the men with the biggest belly are most desired. The greater the abdominal volume, the more attractive they will be. But the preparation for the contest where the fattest is chosen is rather gruesome.

They drink fresh cow **** and fresh cow milk for 3-6 months in a bid to quickly become fat and be crowned the fattest man. During the Kael ceremony, the winner of the contest is measured and receives great fame by the tribe.

Women and girls bring them milk every morning in their quest for big gut glory.

The only prize for the winner is fame and the adulation of his fellow tribesmen.

The women take care of the fat men: they give them alcohol, remove the sweat, and sing for them to keep them awake.

Africa is a continent named "the origin of mankind". Its a continent full of riches, both in resources and culture. African people are fun of arts, music ad well as other entertainment. They are forever happy despite the challenges they face as a continent and huddles of Neo-colonialism and denial of basic human rights and needs.
